Money through affiliate marketing?

What is Affiliate Marketing?

1. A marketing arrangement by which an online retailer pays a commission to an external website for traffic or sales generated from its referrals.
2. Affiliate marketing at it's very core is about relationships,
3. A relationship between three parties:
  1. Advertiser … create a product and is ready to pay other people to advertise it
  2. Publisher … is an individual or company that promotes an advertiser’s product or service in exchange for earning a commission.
  3. Consumer … sees the promotion, clicks the link that takes them to the publisher’s website where they complete the transaction

Why would we want to do affiliate marketing?

1. Revenue
2. Relationship
3. Sell others product (See ep. 36 for a more detailed explanation)
4. Promote a product that you love

When should we start affiliate marketing?

1. As soon as you find a suitable affiliate
2. When you have a product that you would like your audience to know about or use
3. Mailing list and our different opinion on such

How do we go about doing affiliate marketing?

1. Researching markets that you would like to have an affiliation with
2. Contacting / Reaching out to the publisher/creator
3. Affiliate directories … ClickBank, CJ.com (Formerly Commission Junction), Rakuten, etc.
4. By listening to other people’s affiliate announcements … see their resource page

How do you get paid?

1. The arrangement based upon each affiliation. E.g Some have a threshold as to what is the minimum commission prior to sending you a check … eg. Amazon, Bluehost, etc.
2. Have a checking account to receive payment

Your Assignment:

Do Google search for the product you love and will benefit your audience with the word affiliate at the end of the search and sign up for the affiliate program … keep trying until you find one.
